The purpose of this page is to demonstrate the answers to many commonly asked questions regarding managing your web hosting and email accounts. For Level8 hosting customers, addition information is available within your ISPconfig account's Help section. This post will grow as we continue to help clients better understand how to use the tools available to them through our hosting accounts.

Configuring your email client for your new email address

  • Account Type: Level8 email accounts support both IMAP and POP
  • Incoming Mail Server: mail.YOURDOMAIN.com
  • User Name: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Password: this is the password established for your new email account
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.YOURDOMAIN.com
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.YOURDOMAIN.com
  • Use Secure Socket Layer: yes
  • Authentication: password
  • User Name: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Password: this will be the same as established for the incoming mail server

Trouble Shooting Email Establishment

Incase you do get an error message when establishing your new email account, the follow information is provided to help diagnose and overcome the issue.

  • Mail states it can't "Verify Certificate": This occurs because you are setup to use a SSL connection, but perhaps you are using a shared certificate and that is confusing your email client. If given the option accept the unverified certificate, otherwise check to make sure the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers are set to your access domain.
